Program Specifics:
Who can participate?
- Participants must be at least 15 years of age and have completed grade 9.
How many credits do you earn?
- Earn up to 12 Grade 12 diploma credits and a credential that could lead to a career in agriculture or agri-business.
How does the program run?
- Students learn through hands-on opportunities under the direction of experienced farm personnel, their online class teacher and their Green Certificate Regional Coordinator.
- Students will be enrolled in a Brightspace course for tackling the theory portion of the course and uploading proof of training.
- If you want to receive credit for this course but do not wish to complete the Green Certificate testing and obtain full accreditation, please contact the course teacher. Discuss the possibility of earning course credit only and discuss which tasks may be eliminated from the required Task list as a result.
What does this program cost?
- There is an approximate fee of $300/module for a total of $900 if all three modules are completed and official certification through the Green Certificate program is pursued for each of them. There is also the additional cost of travel to the BC Peace Region testing center if in person testing is preferred. Virtual testing via Zoom can be arranged.
- Some of the programs require an external First Aid course at the cost of the student.
3 Modules each worth 4 credits:
- You can choose to complete only 1 or all 3
- Each Module is worth 4 credits
- They do not need to be completed in order
- Upon completion of each Module, the student must pass Green Certificate testing in order to receive course credit
- Example- Beekeeper Production Technician
- Module X - Bee Operation Preparation & Planning
- Module Y - Bee Operation Production & Practices
- Module Z - Bee Operation Support Systems
- In order to be considered fully certified it is recommended you complete all 3 Modules
You will need a Green Certificate Trainer:
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Support learning through communication, expertise and coaching
- Provide a safe facility/farm operation
- Commit to one-on-one time with your trainee and encourage questions
- Follow the apprenticeship-style training model
- Teach to industry standards and demonstrate proper techniques and procedures
- Test your trainee on your farm to assure competence before signing off on your trainee's skill profile sheet

- A relative who is an expert in the field
- Local farmer-specialist
