Interior

South Okanagan
  • Date: Monday, September 16th

  • Address: Skaha Beach, 3798 Parkview St, Penticton, BC V2A 3W4 - We will meet on the beach at the fire pits by the natural playground and volleyball courts at the end of Parkview Street on Skaha Beach in Penticton.

  • Bring: If it is allowed, we will have a fire going so bring anything to roast and roasting sticks.

Kelowna
  • Date: Tuesday, September 17th
  • Time: 4-6pm
  • Address: Sutherland Bay Park, 612 Ellis St, Kelowna, BC V1Y 0A2
  • Parking: 
  • Event: Picnic, face painting, sand castle building and lawn games
  • Bring: A picnic with chairs and / or picnic blanket. This park includes water / beach access and a playground. Please note there will be no life guard provided and parents / guardians are responsible for the safety and care of their family members. 
    Kamloops
    • Date: Friday, September 13th
    • Time: 12 - 2 pm
    • Address: Prince Charles Park, 1145 Nicola St, Kamloops, BC V2C 2S3
    • Parking: On surrounding streets of the park.
    • Event: Picnic, face painting, lawn games and crafts
    • Bring: Personal picnic, chairs, picnic blanket etc.
    North Okanagan
      • Date: Monday Sept 9
      • Time: 4 to 6 pm
      • Address: Paddlewheel Park
      • Parking: Large parking on site 
      • Event: Come hang out with  HCOS teachers and local families.
      • Bring: A picnic dinner, chairs and a roasting stick (we'll have a few extra).  We'll supply propane fire pits and ingredients for s'mores. 
    Salmon Arm
      • Date: Friday, September 20th 
      • Time: 12:00pm - 2:00pm 
      • Address: Black Burn Park in Salmon Arm, 480 5th Avenue SW 
      • Parking: There is lots of parking in the park 
      • Event: Your Interior RA's, Amber Haas and Joanna Cann will be bringing pizza to Black Burn Park. Come join us for pizza and a play.
      • Bring: Bring a water bottle and any snacks you would enjoy.  Dress for the weather as Amber and Joanna will be there with pizza rain or shine!  
    Trail
    • Date: Monday Sept 16
    • Time: 1 to 3pm
    • Address: Gyro Park, 234 Park Rd, Trail, BC 
    • Parking: Easy access at the park
    • Event: Come join us at the playground of Gyro Park for an opportunity to meet other home educating families and local teachers.
    • Bring: We welcome you to bring something to sit on and lawn games. Timbits will be provided. ​

    Lower Mainland

    Burnaby Deer Lake
      • Date: Wednesday, Sept. 4
      • Time: 10 am to noon (stay as long as you'd like though!)
      • Address: 5435 Sperling Ave, Burnaby
      • Parking: 
      • Event: Back-to-school Picnic
      • Bring: Snacks, frisbees, spike ball, kayak for on the lake or other games!
    Cultus Lake
      • Date: Thursday, Sept. 5
      • Time: 10 am to noon (stay as long as you'd like though!)
      • Address: 3179 Columbia Valley Hwy, Cultus Lake, BC --> Entrance Bay Campground, Day Use Area
      • Parking: 
      • Event: Back-to-school Picnic. Swimming with parent supervision if the weather is nice
      • Bring: Snacks, frisbees, spike ball, paddleboards, kayak, spike ball or other games!

    Langley Walnut Grove Community Park
      • Date: Friday, Sept. 6
      • Time: 10 am to noon (stay as long as you'd like though!)

      • Parking: Lower parking lot, close to the beach.
      • Event: Sunshine Coast Week of Welcome Potluck
      • Bring: A dish to share.

    Fort St John

    • Event: Come join other home-educating families and meet the teachers from HCOS for an afternoon of fun and games.
    • Bring: If you’d like to bring outdoor games (soccer balls, frisbees, etc.) please do! Snacks will be provided.
    Prince George
      • Date: Thursday, September 12
      • Time: 11 AM - 1 PM

      • Event: Pizza, Play and Connection Time - HCOS will bring pizza! 
      • Bring: Water bottles and come dressed for the weather - We will play rain or shine!
    Terrace

    Island

    North Island WoW from the Comox Valley through to Campbell River and farther north up to Sayward, Port McNeil, and Port Hardy

    • Parking: Park at the main beach and picnic areas
    • Event: Enjoy lively games, delicious snacks, meeting and visiting with new and returning HCOS families and teachers.
    • Curriculum Swap, Shop and Share: Bring your gently used curriculum and exchange it for another resource, ask questions and swap ideas 
    Victoria

    • Event: Sandcastle Building Contest. Please join us for fellowship, a sandcastle contest, and snacks!
    • Bring: Your shovels, buckets, and building tools to build sandcastles with your family or friends! Bring chairs or blankets if needed.
