Reading Assessment and Literacy Resources
Literacy is vital for all students as they begin school and throughout their careers.
Teachers can use DIBELS to gauge a benchmark for students' reading levels. HCOS Teacher Breanne Rousseau has created an Assessing Reading Skills in Literacy resource on literacy assessment, featuring excellent resources on teaching phonetics and phonemics, as well as various assessment tools.
Using Reading Eggs to Assess Students' Lexile Level
Instruct students to log into Reading Eggs with their username and password. (Accounts are set up by your support teacher.) Students receive the placement test upon entering the Subscription. Check with your support teacher to review the results. This video explains how to interpret the placement test scores.

Why Reading Eggs for Improving Student Literacy? Using the five essential keys to reading success, the program unlocks all aspects of learning to read, focusing on a core curriculum of phonics and phonemic awareness, sight words, vocabulary, comprehension, and reading for meaning. To learn more about the Reading Eggs program, see here.
If you have a student who requires more intensive reading support, please contact your teacher or Learning Support Consultant, who will help your student get started with RAZ-Plus or assign them a DORA test assessment.
