Interior

Lake Country
  • Date: Friday, September 9th

  • Event: Park Play and Picnic
  • Bring your family for a time of connecting with other HCOS families. Remember your picnic, blanket and sunscreen. 
Sparwood
  • Date: Monday, Sept 12th
  • Time: 11am to 2pm
  • Address: Sparwood Water Spray Park; Red Cedar Crescent, Sparwood, BC
  • Event: Splash Park and Picnic
  • Bring your family and join us for a picnic and water park fun! We'll spend time connecting as a HCOS Community.  All students need to be supervised by an accompanying adult.
Cranbrook
  • Date: Tuesday, September 13th
  • Time: 10 am to 12 pm

South Okanagan
  • Date: Friday, September 9th
  • Time: 12 to 2:30 pm

  • Event: Park Play and Picnic
  • Bring your family for a time of play and picnicking together. Remember your lunch basket, blanket and sunscreen.
Kelowna
  • Date: Friday, September 16th
  • Time: 12 to 2 pm
  • Address: Ben Lee Park, 900 Houghton Rd, Kelowna, BC, V1X 2J8. Look for the HCOS signs.
  • Event: Park Play, Picnic and Ice Cream
  • Bring your family for a picnic at Ben Lee Park. You'll need lunch and picnic blanket. Consider bringing a game to invite others to join in on. Remember to watch for the weather and ensure you have sun protection. Please note the water park will no longer be running. 
Kamloops
  • Date: Friday, September 23rd
  • Time: 10:30 am to 1pm
  • Address: Prince Charles ParkPark, 1145 Nicola St, Kamloops, BC, V2C 1V92S3
  • Event: Tree Scavenger Hunt and Picnic
  • Bring your family and a picnic and meet us at the playground in Riverside Park where we will participate in a scavenger hunt for local trees throughout Riverside Park (and one at City Hall)! We'll then spend time connecting as a HCOS Community, doing face painting, and sharing a treat. All students need to be supervised by an accompanying adult.
    Invermere
    • Date: Friday, September 16th
    • Time: 11 am to 2 pm
    • Address: Kinsmen Beach, 1720 4 Ave, Invermere, BC, V0A 1K4
    • Event: Park Play and Picnic (meet near the washroom/concession area)
    • Bring your family for a time of connecting with other HCOS families. Remember your lunch and sunscreen.
    • Please note this is not a drop off event and all students need to be supervised by an accompanying adult.
    Vernon
    • Date: Wednesday, September 21st
    • Time: 1:30 to 3:30 pm
    • Address: Paddlewheel Park & Beach, 7815 Okanagan Landing Rd, Vernon, BC, V1H 1K8. Meet us near the covered area.
    • Event: Scavenger hunt and a treat
    • Bring: Chairs / blankets
    • Join other HCOS families and teachers for informal fun and fellowship to celebrate the start of a new school year! Dress for the weather. This is not a drop-off event.

     

    Lower Mainland

    Burnaby
    • Date: Tuesday, September 13th 
    • Time: 10 am to noon (stay as long as you'd like though!)
    • Address: Deer Lake Park, 5435 Sperling Ave, Burnaby, V5E 2L8. We'll be by the water north of the washrooms.
    • Event: Back-to-school picnic
    • An informal time to have fun and meeting other homeschoolers and HCOS teachers!
    Cultus Lake
    • Date: Thursday, September 15th
    • Time: 10 am to noon (stay as long as you'd like though!)
    • Address: Entrance Bay Campground Day Use Area, 3499 Columbia Valley Hwy, Cultus Lake, BC, V2R 5A3
    • Event: Back-to-school picnic. Swimming with parent supervision if the weather is nice!
    • Bring: Paddleboards, kayaks, spikeball, or any other fun activities you have!
    • An informal time to have fun and meeting other homeschoolers and HCOS teachers!
    Langley - CANCELLED
    • Date: Friday, September 16th 
    • Time: 10 am to noon (stay as long as you'd like though!)

    • Event: Back-to-school picnic
    • Bring: Frisbees, spikeball, or other games!
    • An informal time to have fun and meeting other homeschoolers and HCOS teachers!
    Sunshine Coast, Porpoise Bay
    • Date: Monday, September 26th
    • Time: 3 pm open ended

    • Event: Back-to-school picnic
    • An informal time to have fun and meeting other homeschoolers and HCOS teachers!

     

    North

    Burns Lake
    • Date: Monday, September 12th
    • Time: 9:30 to 10:30 am. Option to stay longer to walk or bike around the lake afterward.
    • Address: Kager Lake Recreation Site, Boer Mountain Rd, Burns Lake, BC, V0J 1E3. Meeting at the shelter near the main parking lot.
    • Event: Scavenger teddy bear hunt (prizes to those who can find everything!) and light refreshments.
    • Bring: Picnic blanket or lawn chair, water. If your child would like to bring his/her teddy bear, please do!

    Prince George

    • Date: Thursday, September 15th
    • Time: 9 am to 11 am
    • Address: Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park, 17th Ave, Prince George, BC, V2L3X9. Meet us at the Playground.
    • Event: Fun in the park.
    • Bring: Blanket or chairs.

    Fort St. John and Area

    • Date: Tuesday, September 20th
    • Time: 11:30 am to 1:30 pm
    • Address: Peace Island Park, Alaska Hwy, Taylor, BC, V0C 2K0. Meet us in the wooden pavilion.
    • Event: Back-to-School Weiner Roast (we will provide hotdogs to roast over the fire)
    • Bring: Drinks, finger foods to share (chips, veggies), and picnic blankets/chairs
    • We will have some books/resources available to give away or by donation

    Island

    Mid Island: Port Alberni, Oceanside, Nanaimo 
    • Date: Thursday, September 15th
    • Time: 1 pm to 3 pm
    • Address: Parksville Community Park, 193 Beachside Dr, Parksville, BC, V9P 2S5. Find us at the HCOS Flags.
    • Event: Sand castle competition. Freezies and coffee (supplied).
    • Bring: Buckets and shovels.
    • Mid-Island HCOS Families (Nanaimo, Parksville, Port Alberni) Welcome Back! Please join us for an informal time to have fun and meet other HCOS families.
    North Island: Miracle Beach
    • Date: Tuesday, September 13th
    • Time: 10 am to 12 pm
    • Address: Miracle Beach Provincial Park, 1720 Miracle Beach Dr, Black Creek, BC, V9J 1J5
    • Event: HCOS Mixed aged Mini-Olympics.
    • Students from multiple grades will come together to participate in fun games like beanbag throw, disc golf target throwing, three-legged race and much more. Please plan to be at Miracle Beach for 10 am so we can split students into teams and begin our HCOS Mini-Olympics!
    Victoria
    • Date: Thursday, September 22nd
    • Time: 10 am to 12 pm

    • Event: Fun and fellowship
    • Join us for fun and fellowship over a cup of coffee and a snack while students will be engaged in a soccer game, parachute fun, board games and the playground.
    Powell River
    • Date: Wednesday, Sept 21
    • Time: 11 am to 2 pm

    • Event: Disc Golf, Cooperative Games and Hamburger BBQ Lunch (burgers and coffee/tea provided)
    • Please bring water/drinks for your kids as well as plates/cutlery if desired.

    Chemainus

    • Join us for some fun in the park and meet some of our local teachers and local families. We will have a STEM craft and snacks while we visit.
