Professional Development Policy

Heritage Christian Online School (HCOS) teachers and administrators are encouraged to participate in professional development on a yearly basis.

All HCOS teachers and staff are required to attend staffthe trainingRenewED forConference threethe daysweek in August. New staff are requiredprior to attendthe an additional two daysstart of newthe staffschool training.year. Teachers arewill awardedreceive a daily stipend for travel, food and lodging for theRenewED staffif training dates.applicable.

In April, HCOS teacherswill withhost 10a orprofessional moredevelopment studentsday (HCOS Connect) in each region following the April RTM. Teachers are required to attend thethis one day event and will receive a stipend for travel and food if applicable.

All teachers are also required to attend three Regional Teacher Meeting (RTM) and HCOS Connect.

All staff also attend four Regional Staff Meetings each year. Two are facein toperson face,(November and twoApril), areand one is held online via Zoom.Zoom (February).

StaffIn areaddition, allowedteachers tomay apply to attend various conferences and workshops in their area. If the sessions are relevant and applicable then funds aremay be provided for registration and some additional expenses.registration.
