Gizmos

Gizmos (Gr.Grades 3 - 3-12) areis an interactive math and science simulations.simulation Overlibrary. There are over 475 Gizmos aligned to the latest standards help educators bring powerful new learning experiences to students.  Gizmos use an inquiry-based approach to learning validated by extensive research as a highly effective way to build conceptual understanding.  Gizmos meets the requirements of inquiry-based learning as described in the new BC curriculum.

Logging In

There are four steps to log into Gizmos.


Step 1: Email our Subscriptions Coordinator Margaret Basaraba for the Gizmos isclass setcodes.

Step with2: Navigate to Gizmos and click the "Student Login" button in the top right corner.

Step 3: Click "Have a Class Code?"

Step 4: Enter the class code.

Gizmos has classrooms that students can sign into and work in independently. TheirStudent work is saved, and support teachers can seelog their accomplishments. Gizmos requires class codesin to logview in, so please email Margaret Basaraba for help.progress.

UsingNavigation the& SubscriptionUse

When your students are in their class, helpful articles are to the right of the Gizmos.

Select “Launch” to begin using a Gizmos.

When your Gizmo opens, you will see “lessonLesson info”Info” and the arrows to select to make the Gizmo fullscreen in the top right-handright corner. (SelectClick theyour keyboard escape button to change back fromexit the fullscreen.)fullscreen view.

Selecting the “Lesson info” drop-down menu will makedisplay the student exploration sheet”sheet, available.which This sheet teaches your studentexplains how to use the Gizmo. IfStudents youcan opentype directly into the Worddocument documentby saving the file to their computer and savethen ittyping toin youreither computer,Microsoft yourWord or Google Docs. There are also vocabulary sheets available for student can answer the questions directly in the document.

You will also see the “vocabulary sheet” and “Full lesson info” buttons.use.

Assessments

Assessment questions are located below the GizmoGizmo. when it is not inExit fullscreen mode.mode, Scrollthen downscroll to seethe them.bottom. 

Assessment questions can be answered while the student is working through the Gizmos.
