Subscriptions are online resources provided by HCOS for our families. Our Subscriptions cover a wide range of valuable content for your students’ online learning.
Logins & Getting Started Tips
Find all of your information in the Subscriptions and Databases chapter in the Learning Commons for Families book.
Finding links, usernames, and passwords.
Go to the Search Portal Landing Page and select the Subs/Password tab. Log in with your Encom username and password. You will see a list of Subscriptions and find links, usernames and passwords.
World Watch News is at the bottom of the list. If you can’t see World Watch News, you can reverse the order of the list by selecting the word “Name” on the narrow green bar. Bring it back to the regular order by selecting “Name” again.
FAQs and Troubleshooting
Subscription Login Does Not Work
Subscription Passwords are updated each year in July, and sometimes randomly throughout the year. If your password stops working, please check back on the Search Portal to see if you are using an up-to-date password.
When the Subscription Login Does Not Work.
These are the things to try first:

Always check the Search Portal first to make sure that the link, username and password that you are using is up-to-date. Choose the Subs/Password tab and log in with your Encom username and password. The Search Portal information changes every year in July and randomly throughout the year if password issues arise.

Try clearing your browser cache. Your computer may have saved a “broken link.” If it does that, it won’t matter how often you try to log in; you won’t get there because your computer keeps reverting to the wrong link. Type “clear cache” into your search bar and follow the instructions from the drop-down menu for your browser.

Check that you are not adding an extra ‘blank’ space at the beginning or the end of your username or password. Make sure they are located at the very beginning of the space allowed, and that your cursor is right at the end of the password.

Check whether your username or password has upper and lowercase letters. Some subscriptions are case-sensitive.

Try using a different browser to access the subscription. If you usually work in Google Chrome, try using Internet Explorer, Safari, or Firefox.

You can always try to reboot your computer. Turn everything off, wait thirty seconds, and then turn it on again.

Sometimes, waiting a day and then trying it again seems to work!

Using Subscriptions in the Summer
Yes, students, who are enrolled or registered for the next school year, are welcome to continue using their Subscriptions through the summer. The Tynker Subscription, which closes for July, is the one exception.
