Job Description - Learning Services Regional Administrator

Reports To:

Director of Learning Services (LS)

Job Purpose

The primary roles of this regional position are to organize assessment and support of high needs and designated KPQR learners and to provide LS leadership by representing the needs of LS students, supporting LS consultants (LSC), and collaborating with other regional administrators.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supports K-12 teachers with high-needs and designated KPQR students by:

  • offering support, training, expertise, oversight, accountability,  and leadership to their regional Learning Services Consultant (LSC) team.
  • communicating with teachers regarding support of their high-needs and designated KPQR students.
  • communicating with professionals regarding assessments or therapy.
  • writing IEPs in collaboration with Individualized teacher and parent, keeping Encom case notes.
  • advising on the use of adapted vs. modified courses & IEP Implementation.
  • working closely with Grad Advisors (GAs) and Special Education (SE) Grad Administrator to support Grad students.
  • participating on the SE Admin Team and Category Designation team.
  • managing regional LS budget using FileMaker.
  • attending regional School Based Team (SBT) meetings for LS students in their region.
  • attending regional meetings with Regional Administrators (RAs)/SE RAs/GAs.
  • collaborating with K-9 RAs and SE RAs on intake calls for high needs LS students.
  • supporting regional Learning Groups (LG) Coordinator
  • completing KPQR Designation checklists and submitting LS to SE transition forms.
  • offering LS training for teachers (newsletter, Scoopit, CHEC, f2f regionally, open-houses).
  • participating in SE/LS Staff meetings and SE training.
  • staying current through professional development opportunities.
  • any other duties as requested by supervisor.
 Qualifications & Skills
  • BC qualified teacher with at least 1 year of experience in the HCOS LS/SE division
  • Expertise and/or experience in supporting KPQR students
  • Creative problem solver, demonstrated ability to think out of the box
  • Knowledge of the BC Ministry’s Special Education Categories
  • A curious, motivated, lifelong learner, a collaborator who can participate in a Professional Learning Community of LS colleagues
  • Enjoys operating in a supportive, mentoring role with teachers and in a regional leadership/administrative capacity
  • Willingness and ability to learn and use software as required (Zoom, Alfresco, SOPHIE)
  • Organized, able to prioritize tasks and follow through
 Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Managing a caseload of 15-20 students per day/week of work, with varying times of busyness
  • Access to home office, phone, computer and Internet access, along with travel, 4-5 times a year for 2-5 days at a time.
  • Able to sit or stand, work at a computer for significant periods of time
  • Preference that the LS RA live in the region they are supporting.
